Lessons from the Arena

  • We don’t want to be so focused on the goal that we lose relationship.

  • Choose faith over fear.

  • Be persistent, have boundaries but allow for freedom to be who you are.

  • Clear leadership provides direction and protection.

  • We can’t make anyone else follow a plan, we can only follow our own and influence others.

  • Receive from others, set boundaries for rest and connection.

  • Don’t underestimate my power to influence systems (with God all things are possible).

  • God is with me at all times, and He will provide—we don’t have to carry/do it all.

  • We can focus on healthy relationships and have boundaries with unhealthy situations.

  • What am I gripping so tightly (the lead rope) that causes pain (rope burn)?

  • I need to quit trying to fix something I can’t control—it’s not my job (it’s God’s).

  • There is a correlation between compassion fatigue and self-care.

  • Sometimes we have to embrace a season of healing, before setting out to help and give again.

  • Making connections with people and building relationships takes effort and action.
